Star Trek Online - Goes Free To Play

In a recent Perfect World earnings call, CFO Kelvin Lau stated our intention to adopt a free-to-play business model for Star Trek Online this year and we could not be happier to finally share these exciting plans with you.
Incorporating a free-to-play model into Star Trek Online enables any interested captain to explore the galaxy to his or her heart's delight.
We do have a full announcement, more details regarding free-to-play, a breakdown of exactly what's on offer, a FAQ, and a features matrix all queued up for publish next week. Those familiar with our superhero MMO, the free-to-play Champions Online: Free for All, will recall the solid suite of information we published when we announced that game's free-to-play transition. We'll have similarly robust web pages and boards setup next week for STO. (Kind of like this, for example.)
We're committed to Star Trek Online, we're more experienced from launching Champions Online: Free for All, we're supported by a AAA online games publisher dedicated to putting forth quality Western-styled F2P games, and we can't wait to show you more.

Glory of the Icecrown Raider

How many level 85’s does it take to obliterate the Icecrown Citadel? Well, ten if you want to share the glory with your guild mates and the reward of your own personal Bloodbathed Frostbrood Vanquisher. This accomplishment is the result of obtaining a specific achievement for each of the 16 bosses within the Citadel, most while in heroic mode. This mount was number one hundred for the Horde guild leader, Krauhm. A special congratulation for that mountain of mounts he has obtained!

Wintersday 2010

Wintersday is almost here! It's that festive time of year when towns glimmer with cheery decor, vendors sell seasonal treats, and goodwill fills the hearts of Tyrians everywhere. This year we've got new costumes and brand-new holiday content. Wintersday events begin on Thursday, December 16, 2010, and run until Monday, January 3, 2011.
For centuries, the goddess of life, Dwayna, who welcomes the coming of spring, has struggled with the god of death, Grenth, for control of Wintersday. This year, the god of war, Balthazar, has thrown his support behind Grenth, who vehemently believes that Wintersday should be a somber time of reflection on the inevitability of death. The Priests of Balthazar feel that the merriment of Wintersday is a glaring example of the weakness of humanity, and have vowed to aid Grenth with his seasonal shenanigans. In response, the goddess of nature, Melandru, has come to Dwayna’s assistance for fear of an endless winter destroying the delicate balance of nature!
Join the heated battle for the fate of this chilly holiday with our striking new Melandru and Balthazar costumes and our brand-new Wintersday challenge. As always, the towns of Lion's Arch, Droknar's Forge, Ascalon City, Kamadan, and the Eye of the North will be decked out in Wintersday decorations. Visitors to Lion's Arch, Kamadan, and the Eye of the North will be invited to participate in holiday quests, missions, and games, all with their own rewards.

Underworld Overwhelmed?

Say What? That's right the Underworld was "owned" last night in which we had some very brave adventurers go forth and put a smack down on "Dumb", err I mean "Dhuum". Taking just a hair over 3 and a half hours, we entered into out Awesomesauce night with a full 7 man and 1 female Team ! It wasn't really that bad and it was good to place another statue in our Hall of Monuments.
Special thanks to Ryan who led us forth and was our guide. Jerron "Meatshield" was able to stand there and taunt Dhuum to hit him, Lady and Chris healed like mad. Kev stole my mini...I mean he did awesome along with Spud, Vazor, and BoB.
Hope to see you all in the future and at out next Awesomesauce event next Tuesday!
